In late January 2009, a workshop was held to inform the local amateur astronomy community about the International Year of Astronomy and to coordinate events held by the clubs and larger institutions so that volunteers would not get burned out. Out of that meeting, a very informal committee was formed. And a project to collate all of our calendars.
Individuals actively doing astronomy/space outreach through an organization or independently are welcome to join. Communication is primarily by email through a Google group website.
